Tad Stones has made a post on his blog featuring some Darkwing-related sketches.  He isn’t by any means announcing his return to working in St. Canard (he seems pretty well busy with development on two other shows at the moment), but there sure has been a lot of Darkwing talk lately, and that apparently got him to sketching.

Dual gun Darkwing

With all the interest in Darkwing Duck lately I thought I’d try sketching some ducks and potential new villains.  I have to say it’d be fun diving back into that world now that pop culture has taken a hard left into the geek.

At the post, you can see the above drawing with Darkwing sporting a new get-up and the John Woo-style double-wield he’s before mentioned, a really nifty sketch of Gosalyn, and some really keen looking villain concepts, mostly elementally-based.  Check it out!

We’re only 2 days away from issue 5 of the Darkwing Duck comic, and we finally have a preview online.  Negaverse.net’s “Duck Knight” blog has posted the tantalizing first five pages of the issue.  It starts with a delightful stroking of Darkwing Duck’s needy ego.

And then we get right to some Negaduck and Magica DeSpell action as Crisis on Infinite Darkwings kicks off.  October 20th (when this issue drops) can’t come soon enough.

Sometimes it takes me a while to locate this stuff, especially now that there’s so much Darkwing news across the mainstream comics media.  Just found this short video interview from the iFanboy San Diego Comic Con podcast with Darkwing Duck creator Tad Stones.  Here, Stones expresses his admiration for the new comic, his encouragement that the Boom! crew make the character their own, and he reveals that he may very well do some covers for future issues.  I think that last bit’s pretty exciting, actually.

I’m pleased to announce The Darkwing Duck Blog‘s partnership with TaleSpin Source, a truly amazing example of a fan site.  The staff at TaleSpin source have put together an amazing and comprehensive news and database resource for both information about the Disney Afternoon show and related topics and TaleSpin’s fan community. One of my favorite features of the site is its “Ask the Creators!” section, where fans can ask questions of TaleSpin creators Jymn Magon and Mark Zaslove–and often get answers! They’re putting together a “virtual season,” contributed to by fans. It’s pretty glorious.

TaleSpin

Chances are that if you’re a Darkwing Duck fan, you’ve got at least a modicum of appreciation for its old lead-in, TaleSpin. So, if you haven’t been over there yet, you should definitely check it out now.
